For coastal homes in Al and MS properties are generally required to meet underwriting requirements that includerequire the home to be built in compliance with the IRC 2006 at a minimum, or have qualified for a FORTIFIED Home Silver designation.

 

For non-admitted coverage homes must have all opening protected against windborne debris, have a wind resitant roof covering, and a well designed and connected roofing system.

 

Disaster-Smart performs a Mitigation Inspection designed to pre-qualify or identify features that need strengthening to meet the underwriting requirements of high value homes for CHARTIS and other large insurance companies. Homes that meet the Institute for Business and Home Safety- FORTIFIED Home program with at least a Silver Designation Certificate, may qualify for coverage.

 

DIsaster-Smart is uniquely qualified to offer both Wind Mitigation ionspections and also provides the Evlaution services for FORTIFIED Homes. We can evlaute the home and serve as consultatn with the owner to guide them through the improvement and certification process.
